On December 17, 2025, Xu Yisong, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress, led a delegation to visit key China Merchants projects in Djibouti. During the visit, the delegation inspected the Djibouti International Free Trade Zone (DIFTZ), the China Merchants Djibouti Free Trade Zone Logistics Park (CMHD), the Doraleh Multipurpose Port (DMP), and the Special Presentation Center (SPC), an early-stage project of the Djibouti Old Port redevelopment.

The delegation gained an in-depth understanding of China Merchants’ “Going Global” achievements and its progress in supporting the Belt and Road Initiative. Xu Yisong highly commended China Merchants’ contributions to advancing the Belt and Road Initiative and strengthening cooperation between China and Djibouti.
